Dear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year at San Felipe de Neri School. I feel most honored to be serving as your new Principal. I have had so many parents and families welcome me to this wonderful community.
The school year has started off very well and all the classes are now in full swing. We have a phenomenal group of teachers this year and they have all been working very hard since the summer, getting the curriculum together for each of their classes.
As many of you well know by now, I am always willing to speak with you if I am not tied up on the phone or in a meeting. I will give you my undivided attention. But, if we need to schedule a meeting, it is much better to do so because I will be ‘all yours’ for the period of time for the meeting.
We have recently had a bit of ‘rough-housing’ on the playground and the students have been getting carried away with pushing each other. I went around to their classrooms today and spoke with whole classes to try to make them understand the difference between playing by the rules of a game, and playing roughly with each other. I am hoping this behavior will change over the short-term. But I, as well as their teachers, will be watching the children to make sure they are not pushing or being pushed by others. Please talk with your children and encourage them to play more ‘gently’ with their friends on the playground. Also, tell them that if they feel they are being pushed around or treated unfairly to either go to their teacher or come and see me. I am always here for the children!
San Felipe has contacted the City and is looking into parents driving up for end-of-day pick up. I will let you know as soon as we hear anything.
Please take the time to read the new Handbook. There have been quite a number of changes made to it this year. Father Garcia spent a great deal of time reading over and revamping the Handbook. We would appreciate it if all families would abide by the rules so that there is cohesiveness in the San Felipe community.
Father Tom has been coming to school on Thursdays and will be continuing to do so throughout the year. He goes into each of the classrooms and speaks with the children about the previous Tuesday’s sermon. It’s so wonderful to have his special presence in our school!
Thank you all for entrusting your children and grandchildren to us. I hope you all have a wonderful school year along with the children. There will be many activities and field trips coming up to further enrich the academics they are learning in their classrooms.
God bless all of you and may He keep you safe and in His loving arms.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Mason
Principal
